Malappuram: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Sunday launched a new campus of Hyderabad-based English and Foreign Language University (EFLU) along with Edu-City project propounded by Infrastructure Kerala Ltd (INKEL) at Karathodu here and handed over 75 acres of land for it.
Addressing a gathering at INKEL land on Sunday, Chandy said Kerala stands first in literacy and education but when it comes to quality of higher education we are backwards. When other states adopt new ideas, methods and changes in education very fast, we are going backwards. So the government will introduce a new plan of action and polices soon.
Minister for Industries P.K. Kunhalikutty presided over the function and Union Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed inaugurated the education zone. Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb handed over the documents of EFLU land to Punnappurath Madhavan, EFLU Dean of Research and Officer on Special Duty for Academic Affairs.
Minister for Public Works V.K. Ibrahim Kunju launched the residential zone and Minister for Urban Affairs Manjalamkuzhi Ali launched the health zone.
